1) We offer 100% Black Angus. Black Angus are widely accepted as the Beef
Industries Premier Breed. For more information please study the American Angus
Association website @www.angus.org. |
 |
2)
As a Pure Bred breeder we maintain extensive data on each animal's lineage,
performance and health history. Among other traits we breed for high IMF
(Inter-muscular fat) - marbling - which allows animals to marble naturally
without having to be overfed and overfattened. |
3) The U.S. Cow herd averages approximately 33 ½ million annually. Out
of that there are approximately 156,000 Registered Pure Bred Black Angus
Females. When you buy from a pure bred breeder you are buying the Best of the
Best.
4) Our animals are not locked in feedlots with hundreds or
thousands of other animals. They are not force-fed so much corn that they need
antibiotics in their feed just to stay alive. They are not pumped up on growth
hormones so they will grow faster and they are never fed animal
by-products.
5) 90% of our Animals' feed is grass or hay from our farm.
Their only other source of nutrients is our custom blend of natural locally
grown grains.
6) Humane treatment is the cornerstone of Prospect Hill
Farm. It starts with the animal's environment, our pastures, our pens which are
never overcrowded, plenty of water and plenty of feed. It continues with animal
health. We have a small herd and daily contact is always maintained. We are
members of NYSCHAP (New York State Cattle Health Assurance Program) and follow
strict guidelines to ensure animal health. We have a herd veterinarian and a
state veterinarian.
7) Supporting local agriculture is something we
should all do. Knowing the source of your food provides a wonderful peace of
mind. The family farm does not need to die out if it gets the support that it
needs and deserves. Whether it is Prospect Hill Farm or another family farm in
your area - whether it's meat or vegetables or milk - connect to the source of
your food. It will taste better! |
